S.P Kofi Sarpong has made his love for Hiplife artiste, Kofi Kinaata’s hit song, ‘Susuka’ known to the world.
Kofi Sarpong on several occasions has performed the song, which made the composer win songwriter of the year award at the recently held Ghana Music Awards.
Even before this year’s Ghana Music Awards, the police officer in an interview with Amanda Jissih on E-Talk Entertainment show on GH One confessed his love for the song and gave freestyle of it on the on the live TV program.
Report has it that SP Kofi Sarpong did not hear good news when he performed Kinaata’s song last Sunday at a Francis Amo-organised concert in the nation’s capital. The reigning gospel artiste of the year is said to have performed the song after entertaining the audience with some of his hit songs at the show but one fast rising female gospel musician, Naa Mercy blasted him in his face for singing that song at the concert.
Naa Mercy who was not pleased with Kofi Sarpong performing the song told him God is a jealous God and that children of God should not joke with the Holy Spirit. She went on to express her disappointment in the SP for the performance.
Kwasi Ernest, Kofi Sarpong’s manager explaining the issue on Pluzz FM noted that SP Kofi Sarpong is noted for ministering good songs be it gospel or not. Once he finds the song inspiring, he is likely to perform it on any platform he deems fit.
He however cautioned budding artistes to be careful the way they carry themselves about in the name of being holy.
